The next Constitutional Amendment

Considering the shape of things in Washington, I think its way past time to pass a new constitutional amendment. It is time to make “bad” people do good things. Bad people in congress don’t care and won’t do the right thing. Now we the people will have to force them to do the right thing. They will never do it themselves. So here it goes: Any time there is a deficit in the federal budget, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election, and are never allowed to serve again. The only exception would be during an officially declared war! In addition, this 1 or 2 page amendment would have the following other provisions: 1. No Pensions for serving in Congress. 2. When they leave Congress, they are not allowed to lobby for life. 3. All funds in Congressional retirement accounts will be moved to Social Security. They will get Social Security like all the rest of us peons! 4. Congress will no longer vote themselves raises. They will get automatic raises by the lower of CPI or 3Per cent. 5. Congress loses their current health system, they must have the same system as everyone else. 6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people. 7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void effective 1/1/13. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen/women, they made it, and so they lose it. Finally I would like to say this can happen if WE force it. The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. We can demand it as well.
