Feel free to send her your thoughts as well. Her email address as Speaker of the House is AmericanVoices@mail.house.gov.
She's completely wrong on overy issue, same as her boss. It's breathtaking to watch...--Paul
Dear Madame Speaker,
I saw on yesterdays’ (8/18/10) news that you want to formally investigate those who are opposed to the Cordoba House/Ground Zero mosque. To make things easier for your investigation, I wanted to write you directly and provide my name, address, phone #, and email address, as I, like nearly 70% of Americans, are opposed to this building. I am encouraging all Americans who agree with me to do the same. By doing so, you won’t have to waste millions of tax payer dollars (which thanks to you, we don’t have anyway) investigating; we’ll just come to you. Would that be OK?
Just to be clear, I’m not a religious zealot, bigot, racist, or intolerant citizen. I have never much thought about where churches, mosques, synagogues, and other places of worship are placed. Generally, I, like most normal folks, could care less. However, this location is clearly over the top, and completely unacceptable. Your first tip off this was going to be built as a triumphal, Moslem shrine was the name, Cordoba House. When the Moslems conquered this part of Catholic Spain (Cordoba) in the 7th or 8th century, they built a huge mosque over a Christian church in triumph. Any non-public school 10th grader could tell you this name and location were chosen to “celebrate” the 9/11 massacre in lower Manhattan. Your second clue should have been they want/ed to open this “community center” on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11. Talk about brazen contempt for America. The imam and his backers know exactly what they want to accomplish here, and it’s despicable. Third, there is absolutely no reason it needs to be located in a building that was badly damaged on 9/11, making it a part of hallowed ground at Ground Zero. With over 100 mosques already in New York City, build it somewhere else. Have you no clue at all? What, are area Moslems going to get on the subway 5 times a day to pray in this specific place? With tens of thousands of buildings in Manhattan, why does it have to be in this particular one? The obvious answer is of course, it doesn’t. Finally, rather than investigating me, a law-abiding, tax paying U.S. citizen, how about investigating this Hamas-supporting imam, his followers, and investigate where “their” $100MM funding is coming from. You have this, like virtually every issue, completely backwards. You swore to uphold the Constitution, but then you go and take on U.S. citizens in this issue, in Arizona’s right to secure their border against illegals breaking our laws, in going against a large majority of Americans in ramming Obamacare through, and on and on. You are completely out of touch with the vast majority of Americans, and frighteningly, you don’t have any clue of this. You just do what the far left, a huge minority (maybe 20%) in this country, wants.
I see that Harry Reid, and many other Democrats are also opposed to building this mosque here. Will you be investigating them as well? Conveniently, you can start with Majority Leader Reid—his office is in the same building as yours! You better hurry though, because he won’t be there for long…
I believe in the 1st Amendment. With your “new found” interest in our Freedom of Religion, I will be interested to see how hard you fight to support Christians’ rights to have nativity scenes, crosses, and so on this Christmas season. As Speaker of the House for “We the People,” not just “we the democrats, or we the special interests, or we the Moslems”, I am confident you will be consistent and want to investigate those who are against these Christian displays as well. The ACLU comes to mind, along with numerous other atheist and non-Christian groups. Thank you in advance for this. We’ll be watching this December.
Speaking of December, I know you will be busy moving out of your plush Speakers’ office and into a less ostentatious space after 11/2/10. Good luck with your move, and you’re welcome in advance for me paying the bill so you don’t have to. I hope your staff will be courteous to the Boehner folks during the transition.
Sincerely,
Paul
(and I included all of my contact information as well)
