Based on this link that was recently forwarded to our office, Bill Ayers is coming to Milwaukee to help celebrate "….25 years of teaching for social justice!"

Rethinking Schools is the organization sponsoring this event. Over the years, I have seen materials come into our legislative offices from Rethinking Schools which is headquartered in Milwaukee.

For folks that might not have followed this controversial man closely over the years with his involvement with the Weather Underground (communist revolutionary group), bombing buildings, etc., here is the Wiki entry for Bill Ayers - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Ayers Feel free to conduct your own research.

For folks that might not be aware, Rethinking Schools is actively involved in influencing Wisconsin's public school education policy.

Note the first article on the Rethinking Schools website: Teaching for Hope and Activism

First sentence of the column: "How do we bring the fight to protect and transform public schools into our classrooms? How do we connect our classrooms to the struggles in the streets? As the crisis over public education escalates, activist teachers are experimenting with new approaches."

Parents of public school children, do you know what is being taught in our schools? Do you want your children to learn how to read, write and do math and science, or do you want your children to become political activists, agitators, community organizers, etc.? Do you want your children being taught by "activist teachers" as the above article references?

If Rethinking Schools is bringing in such an individual as Bill Ayers, things may be very different this year for your child in.
