Paul Ryan dismantles Joe Biden...again

Dear Friend ,

Congress is back this week and all eyes are on the so-called “Super Committee” to get our fiscal house in order. As I’ve said in the past, I’m skeptical of this new committee’s ability to actually solve our problems.

It’s clear what needs to be done. We have to get our entitlement spending under control. Any budget debates that don’t acknowledge the need to fix -- and save -- Medicare aren’t serious about getting our spending under control. The Democrats in Washington have made it clear that they'd rather make a political issue out of Medicare than solve the underlying problems.

Just last week, Vice President Joe Biden was at a political fundraiser in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when he said that the House passed budget I helped author -- the Path to Prosperity:
“eviscerates -- it eliminates Medicare. They say it doesn’t. It makes it a voucher program. I call that eliminating Medicare in the next 10 years.”
Despite being called out numerous times by non-partisan fact checkers, Democrats continue to spread falsehoods in a desperate attempt to scare voters about what my plan would do. The website PolitiFact.com sets the record straight:
“The bottom line is that all seniors would continue to be offered coverage under the proposal, and the program’s budget would increase every year. The plan would reduce the growth in Medicare spending but not wipe out that spending. And current beneficiaries and those currently 55 and over would not be affected by the changes. It changes Medicare, dramatically, but does not eliminate it.”
PolitiFact goes on to state, “we rate Biden’s statement False.”

Biden’s shocking -- and false -- statement highlights the continued need for Prosperity Action. We will continue to fight back, with your support, against the Democrats’ attacks, falsehoods, and deceptions.
Sincerely,

Congressman Paul Ryan
