Fluke? While Romney's off defending RomneyCare, Newt's off dreaming of moon settlements (see Saturday Night Live 2/4/12), and Paul is keeping his 12% base enthralled, Santorum keeps plugging along.
There's nothing not to like about him. The only rub is, "can he win?" Is he too conservative on social issues to bring over the Independents necessary to beat Dear Leader.
I was certainly surprised by this poll since he's been so far behind Obama previously, so you do wonder if this was just a fluke. I get the sense most of you are ready for this process to end and just give it to the establishment candidate, but when Santorum said recently "is our Party really going to nominate the weakest candidate on government run healthcare?" he brought up a great point.
The Republicans will take back the White House if they pledge to repeal this unsustainable entitlement due to its overwhelming unpopularity, something like 60%. Will Romney do it? He says he will, but it's certainly more difficult for him to run against it than Santorum.
And Newt thinks he'll do well on Super Tuesday (GA, TX, etc). This may take awhile...
Mitch Daniels/Paul Ryan steal it at a brokered Convention?????
