Verify The Recall update, Feb. 9, 2012

THIS IS WHAT ELECTION INTEGRITY LOOKS LIKE! "Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom must undergo the fatigue of supporting it." Thomas Jefferson On Tuesday, the Government Accountability Board announced that it intends to ignore recall petition facts presented to the GAB by any individual (like YOU!) or third party (such as Verify The Recall). Such a decision is in direct conflict with the values of an American government that claims to be "of the people, by the people, and for the people." Verify The Recall plans to legally challenge the GAB's decision. At this time there are not many details to share, because VTR currently remains in communication with our attorneys to plan how we will proceed with this challenge. Updates will be provided as they are determined. Know this: Verify The Recall refuses to let the people of this state be cut out of the recall verification process by Kevin Kennedy and the GAB. Verify The Recall is prepared to take the GAB to court over this matter. We recognize the importance of victory, as we are setting a new precedent for citizen interaction with their government. Our attorneys have created a strong legal argument that supports citizen participation in this process. Blazing new trails is sometimes difficult, but it is a responsibility that we, as a team of 12,000+ volunteers, are willing to accept. In the mean time, VTR data entry activities continue. Regardless of any legal battles that ensue in the future, it is important to remember that all VTR findings and reports will be made publicly available for the world to see. We also plan to create an online, searchable database to empower Wisconsinites to investigate their own "corners of the world." All future plans hinge on VTR successfully entering recall petition data into the database, so please continue to enter data!
