Swing States Tighten...Rasmussen

Poll: Romney Closes Gap in Swing States

Sunday, 07 Oct 2012

GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney has closed the gap with President Barack Obama in 11 swing states, according to the latest Rasmussen poll.

In the 11 swing states, the president earns 49 percent support to Mitt Romney’s 46 percent. Two percent like another candidate, and 3 percent are undecided, according to the poll released Saturday.

"This is the first day this month that the president’s support has fallen below 50 percent and is Romney’s best showing since September 28," explained Scott Rasmussen. "Because this survey is based on findings from the previous seven days, most of the responses still are prior to Romney’s debate win on Wednesday night."

In 2008, Obama won these states by a combined margin of 53 percent to 46 percent, virtually identical to his national margin.

Nationally, Romney has now bounced ahead by two in the Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll.
